Rowan Announce Competition

This March Rowan will be launching a hugely exciting design competition, inspired by the Olympics in London this year.
The brief is simple – to produce an accessory design inspired by one of the nations taking part in this year’s Olympic Games. Photographs of all finished entries should be emailed to mail@knitrowan.com with the subject Design Competition before the closing date of May 31st 2012.
A shortlist of three finalists will then be drawn up by Kate and the team, with the prize to the competition being yarn up to the value of £150 to knit a garment of choice from the new Spring Summer 2012 collections.
The winning pattern will also be published as a Rowan design on KnitRowan.com – so this really is a unique chance to become a Rowan designer! There will also be a free Rowan Subscription membership for the winner and a friend – enjoy the luxury of having your Rowan Knitting & Crochet Magazine delivered direct to your door, along with a beautiful free gift!

Spins and Needles Easy Liesl Pattern

Photos to follow, but the first part of the Liesl pattern, this is an easy pattern if you don’t fancy tackling brioche stitch.

You need – 1 ball of Liesl, 1 pair of 12mm needles, sewing up needle.

Cast on 19 stitches (or an amount of 4+3)

Row 1: Knit 3 *purl 1, knit 3* repeat from * to * to end.

Row 2: Knit 1 *purl 1, knit 3 * repeat from * to * to last 2 stitches purl, 1 knit 1

Repeat these 2 rows until scarf is desired length.

It’s a good idea to put a marker on one side to begin with so you know where you are in the pattern.
